I was only about 11 years old at the time, and the first day I truly hated. Things got even worse that night, as I was trying to sleep, and owl outside kept making noise the entire night. Later that night, I had had enough, and I went outside took a rock and threw it at the tree. The owl flew away and I felt like a conquering hero as I walked back to the tent. However, I had barely placed my head back on the pillow, when I heard it start to hoot again! Suffice it to say, I didn’t get a very good night sleep. However, as the week went on I got used to things, and even look forward to listening to the owl at night as I was falling asleep. That’s when I knew camping was for me.

Friday, October 29th, 2010This hot and spicy Snow Crab Legs cake is definitely a winner. You can adjust the amount of hot sauce if you want it to be a little more hot and spicy. Some people prefer it really hot and spicy. You can also use hot sauce as an additional flavor to the dipping sauce. Ingredients: 1 lb snow crab legs, broken and meat removed from the shell, 2 egg yolks, 1 tsp butter, 1 cup fresh breadcrumbs, cup minced red onions, cup minced celery, cup minced red peppers, cup chopped chives, 1/8 to tsp hot sauce, 1 tsp Worcestershire, Salt and pepper to taste. Cooking directions: Add butter in a medium-sized frying pan and saut the vegetables for a few minutes. Sprinkle the vegetables with hot sauce. Remove from heat and set aside. Now, combine the breadcrumbs, crab meat, vegetables, egg yolks and seasoning in a large bowl. Make palm-sized moulds and dredge in egg wash, flour and seasoning. Deep fry the crab cakes until golden brown. Arrange on a large plate, garnish with herbs and serve with hot sauce on the side.
